10h25 – 13h00 (CET)
The panel ” Promote the green and sustainable transition on territories and regions” consists of a digital session, composed of speakers with different experiences, backgrounds and knowledge that will aim to generate contributions for design an European Agenda for Tourism. This Agenda aims to be aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals in the tourism policies and initiatives of the Member States, maintaining the European Union as the world’s No. 1 destination and a protagonist of the United Nations’ Agenda 2030.
The pandemic we have experienced has brought many challenges to sustainability in tourism, particularly in the field of ensuring the viability of businesses and jobs, even though the European Commission has launched several tools to Immediate support, like the temporary framework for state aid measures to support the economy, and in long-term the Multiannual financial framework 2021-2027 and the Next Generation EU Instrument.
This panel also aims to find ways to include in the territorial planning and management policies the provisions that ensure the sustainability of territories through tourism.
